Best laid plans

Well - didn't stick to my intentions again - the weather and light were so good we just couldn't resist going out again to take more photos.
We went along the coast to Runswick Bay and Staithes. Found some really nice shots including a rusty one for me, and a pretty one.

I did manage to finish one of my pieces late last night and have mounted another one ready to stitch. These metallic paints and threads and shiny fabrics are so difficult to photograph you can never get an accurate picture - not to worry.

Did other things

I didn't manage to spend the day stitching as I had planned but then life would be dull if everything always went to plan.
I did the shopping this morning - we all have to eat after all - had an early lunch then out to do some photography. The two best pictures were of a beautiful weathered sandstone wall and the stepping stones over a river. No people around today so could take the pictures I wanted.
I said that I would post the stitched pieces but I haven't finished them yet but here are two of the painted pieces ready to stitch.

The designs have been stamped with a 'funky foam' square stuck onto a piece of polystyrene. They are ready to be layered up with embellishments of fabrics, sheers, nets etc. and stitching.

Before I started these pieces, I had just finished a fibre piece using an embellishing machine. The piece is the profile of a bust of Queen Nefertiti of Ancient Egypt. I have been working on a project using the art of Ancient Egypt as my source material. Of course, the computer figures largely in my work using it to create designs and colour schemes. Texture always plays a big part too as with this piece.

I will definitely do some stitching tomorrow, at least until I pick up my grandson from school. Then all my time is his. He is growing up so quickly - I make the most of my time with him while I can.

My second blog at last

As suspected, I am not going to be a regular blogger so I will blog as and when the mood takes me.
I have been getting to know my new camera and so far am very very impressed getting photos I would not have tried to take with other cameras.

I spent a day at the botanical gardens at Durham and took some super photos. they have now been processed and stored on a hard drive.
These are a few of the many flowers I took many using my macro lens and then some of the fabulous sculptures in the gardens.
Well worth a visit and we will be going back again next year.

I now have material for another digital collage. When I find the time I will create one and post it on the blog.

Yesterday I went to the railway museum at
Shildon with my grandson - he too has taken to the camera and has no inhibitions about taking pictures. he takes everything. I was thrilled to find lots of fabulous textures - rusty panels and peeling paint. The only down side is processing all the photos - it is so time consuming. Here are a couple of examples - not everyone will be excited by them!!! but I am, all that painting and texturing.

I am writing another article for the Computer Textile Design Group magazine Design-IT. I am not going to say how I created the designs but I spent the day printing the first layers on various fabrics and tomorrow will be stitching over the surface. I will post pictures when they are done.
So second blog done!
